#4 and #71 complete, #13 & #37 (partial)

So, just because I haven't been updating, doesn't mean I haven't been working on my list! I have a couple more done, and a couple more in progress.

#4: Participate in a 5K. The whole family (me, Robert, my parents, and two good friends) participated in the Honor our Heroes 5K in Cedar Park in June. It was hot, and I didn't train for it at all, but I did better than I thought I would! And the sign-up money went to a great cause!

#71: Today, I planted my indoor herb garden. I've planted basil, oregano, mint, dill and lavender (for the scent). Let's see how I do! I have a few more packs of seeds to plant, but no pots yet. Still, I consider this complete. Oh, and true to my craftsy self, each clay pot is hand painted to look like the herbs I planted in it. :)


#13: Okay, I made a very large goal to try 30 new recipes. So far, they've almost all come from this awesome blog: http://www.homemadebyholman.com/.
From that site, I've made:

Pina Colada cupcakes
Triple lemon cupcakes
Linguine with zucchini and fire roasted tomato sauce

Jelly-filled muffins
Veggie stir-fry
Vegetable lasagna

So, that's 12 out of 30 so far. I'm really enjoying finding new recipes to try out and expand my cooking abilities!


#37: I have completed 1 of my in progress cross-stitches, and am hard at work on #2. They are both birth records for good friends. The one I finished already is nearly a year overdue, and the other is only a month overdue so far. I'll put pictures up after I give them to the families they belong to in case they stumble on this site.

3 checks and a bonus! (#20, 22, and 35)

Okay, a few updates. I successfully gave up fast food for an entire month. Giving it up for Lent helps. :) Also, took care of #22 and #35 together by going to Vegas (I've never been to Nevada). I still need a few more ideas to finish my list. So I'll be brainstorming all month. Now, the bonus is sort of a partial check--doing something crafty once a month. I got it in my head to reupholster my dining room chairs for the spring/summer months--you know, just to lighten up the area a little bit and have something "new". So here are the before and afters:

After..."mandarin" swirls. It's actually pretty close to burnt orange. :)
I didn't take off the old covering because I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the change, so all in all, it only took me about 2 1/2 hours to do this. Next time I tackle it, I'll probably do the whole 9 yards and change out the foam, etc. Next project is rehabbing a chair I found curbside today to make it my crafting chair. It will be the first time I completely redo something. But that's for another weekend more than likely. :)

#59 Done!

Day Zero

You see this? This is me jumping on the band wagon. I'm going to join the 101 in 1001 movement. I'm still compiling my list, but I think I've got a good start so far. The first thing I'm going to work on is probably the easiest...downloading non-game apps for my iTouch. We'll see how long it actually takes me!
